About freewireless.net

freewireless.net is an independent guide to getting connected for free or nearly free in the United States. It covers the Lifeline free phone program, genuinely free and cheap mobile plans, and how to use free public Wi-Fi safely.

It exists because searching for "free wireless" mostly returns sales pages. We wanted one place that explains what is really free, what the catches are, and how to apply, in plain English with the official sources linked.

The site is written and maintained by Brent Burgess, a data architect in Benicia, California. Every eligibility claim carries a "last checked" date and is reviewed regularly. If you spot something out of date, please get in touch via the contact details on brentburgess.com.
